Motor Neurone Disease: Wheelchairs

- To ask the Secretary of State for Health when officials from his Department last met representatives of the Motor Neurone Disease Association to discuss wheelchair services; and if he will make a statement.

Departmental officials last met representatives of the Motor Neurone Disease Association to discuss wheelchair services on 23 April 2009.The provision of wheelchair services is the responsibility of primary care trusts. However, we recognise the importance of people—including those with Motor Neurone Disease and other rapidly progressing conditions—receiving the services and support they need, which is why we commissioned the Care Services Efficiency Programme in June 2006 to develop a new model for the delivery of community equipment and wheelchair services.
