Vetting

Question
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how long on average he expects it to take for an application for registration under the vetting and barring scheme to be processed by the Independent Safeguarding Authority.
Answer

Applications for registration under the Vetting and Barring Scheme (VBS) are processed by the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB). The target date for all applications for registration to be processed by the CRB is within seven days of receipt.The Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) is involved only if the registration process indicates that criminal records or other information must be considered.
