National Curriculum Tests

- To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families what the cost to the public purse of standard assessment tests was in each of the last five years.

The Qualifications and Curriculum Development Agency's (QCDA) estimates of the costs of delivering the national curriculum tests for Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 in each of the last five years are as follows:-
£ thousand Total cost of NCT 2008-09 21,755 2007-08 50,570 2006-07 51,559 2005-06 51,743 2004-05 43,828 Statutory Key Stage 3 national curriculum tests have been discontinued and were not administered in 2009. Costs quoted for the 2008-09 financial year are net of the £19,500,000.00 cash settlement received by QCDA, following termination of the test operations contract with ETS Global BV (ETS) in 2008.
