Tourism: VAT
- Question
- To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport what representations he has received on the application of a reduced rate of value added tax to visitor attractions, catering and accommodation; and whether he has discussed that matter with HM Revenue and Customs.
- Answer
-
I regularly meet the sector through the Tourism Advisory Council and the Tourism Alliance. While tax issues are, of course, a matter for the Treasury, this Department continues to work across Government to represent the concerns of the tourism industry at the highest level and I remain in discussion with the Treasury about the impact such measures will have.
