Question
To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families how many (a) primary and (b) secondary schools were closed in each local authority area in 2008-09.
Answer

This requested information to answer (a) primary and (b) secondary schools has been placed in the House Libraries.Please note that there were no middle deemed primary school closures in 2009. Also there are 15 schools which are proposed to close on 31 December 2009 which have not been included in the Library figures but are shown in the following table for reference.The schools which were included in preparing this answer were community, foundation, voluntary aided and voluntary controlled schools. This response does not include any special schools as they do not have a phase of education.
