Housing: Valuation

Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government how many properties in England have a value of over £2 million.

Answer: Information in the form requested is not readily available and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.However the Land Registry does publish information on the number of residential house sales over £2 million. These data are for England and Wales only and are published in their monthly House Price Index report.In August 2009 there were 71 properties sold for over £2 million. This is 0.1 per cent. of the 53,236 transactions for the month.
