Topical Questions
- Question
- May I just say how very much I appreciated David Taylor's presence in this House, including in the Dining Room? We will all miss him a great deal. Has the Justice Department examined the comparative costs and reoffending rates between keeping drug addicts in prison and providing residential accommodation with detoxification and rehabilitation facilities?
- Answer
-
Over the past few years we have tried to ensure that drug treatment is available at the same level inside and outside prison, so that individuals can get the treatment suitable for their particular addiction problem, whether they are inside prison or out in the community. We have made great strides in ensuring that that is now possible.
