Prisons: Budgets

- To ask the Secretary of State for Justice what direction he has given to each prison governor on budgets for the financial year 2009-10.

Letters of delegated authority were issued in June 2009 to each Director of Offender Management from the chief operating officer of the National Offender Management Service. The directors of Offender Management then issued letters of delegated authority to prison governors in their region. Each prison governor is required to operate within the limits confirmed in the written delegations.
