National Security Committee

Question: To ask the Prime Minister what the membership is of the National Security Committee; how many times the Committee has met in the last 12 months; and what its remit is.

Answer: The Ministerial Committee on National Security, International Relations and Development exists to consider issues relating to national security and the Government's international, European and international development policies. Its membership is taken from relevant Ministers. The attendance of officials at ministerial committees is at the discretion of the chair of the committee. At NSID the Chief of the Defence Staff, the Chairman of the Joint Intelligence Committee and the heads of the intelligence agencies have a standing invitation to attend meetings.
