Science: Expenditure
- Question
- To ask the Minister of State, Department for Business, Innovation and Skills what proportion of the UK's gross domestic product was spent on research and development in science in 2008-09; and what assessment he has made of likely trends in such expenditure in the next three financial years.

The most recent data available is for 2007 when gross domestic expenditure on research and development (GERD) was 1.79 per cent. of gross domestic product.Data for 2008 is expected to be published by the Office for National Statistics in March 2010.The Department has made no assessment of future outturns for GERD for the period 2009-10 to 2011-12.
