GCE A-Level: Disadvantaged

Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families pursuant to the answer of 10 February 2010, Official Report, column 1088W, on free school meals: mathematics, if he will provide the information from the earliest year in the last 30 years for which data relating to ethnicity and eligibility for free school meals is available.

Answer: Full information for the whole cohort of A-level students is not available, because the information comes from two distinct sources. The information the Department has readily available is for schools.In the 2002-03 academic year, the number of white males eligible for free school meals attending maintained¹ schools and non maintained special schools who achieved an A grade in GCE A-Level Further Mathematics was less than five. The number of white females eligible for free school meals attending maintained¹ schools and non-maintained special schools who achieved an A grade in GCE A-level Further Mathematics was also less than five.
