Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986

- To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department for what reason Section 24 of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 has yet to be repealed.

[holding answer 1 March 2010]: We have no plans to review section 24 of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 before we know the outcome of European Union Directive 86/609/EEC on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes, which is currently being debated in the European Union.We have never given a commitment to repeal section 24, only to review it.
