- To ask the Minister of State, Department for Business, Innovation and Skills what assessment he has made of the effects on the economy of his Department's policies on science and knowledge transfer.

Independent studies have shown that excellent research improves the performance of existing business, creates new business, delivers highly skilled people to the labour market and attracts research and development investment from global business.UKTI used the strength of the research base to attract 450 R and D investments to the UK between 2007-08 and 2008-09.
