Science: Finance

Question
To ask the Minister of State, Department for Business, Innovation and Skills whether the Government plans to increase expenditure in the public science base at least in line with the trend growth rate of the economy through the period to 2014 referred to in the Ten-Year Science and Innovation Investment Framework.
Answer

This Government remain committed to sustained investment in science and research, as set out in the 10-Year Science and Innovation Investment Framework and to the ring fence around the Science and Research Budget.Total investment in science and research has doubled since 1997 and will increase to a record level of £6 billion in 2010-11.
