Oral question asked in the House of Commons, by Julie Kirkbride (Conservative). It was answered on Thursday, 8 October 2009 on behalf of the West Midlands Regional Grand Committee.
Transport Capacity
- Question
- The Minister will be aware that one of the principal bottlenecks for the existing capacity on the line between Birmingham and Worcester is Bromsgrove station. As a result, my constituents, and those of my hon. Friend the Member for Mid-Worcestershire, have to suffer severe overcrowding and reduced services. Advanced plans for a new station in Bromsgrove were given impetus by money from the west midlands region not so long ago. Can the Minister offer us a start date for the cutting of the first sod at Bromsgrove station, because that would be the best news that my constituents could hear?
- Answer
-
I have discussed that subject with the leader of Bromsgrove district council. I am afraid that I cannot give a precise date, but I will try to establish one as quickly as possible and write to the hon. Lady.
