River Wear: Bridges

- To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what plans his Department has for funding a new bridge over the Wear in Sunderland.

[holding answer 7 June 2010]: The Department for Transport will consider the funding for local authority major transport schemes as part of the Government's spending review to be carried out by the autumn. Until then the Department can give no assurances on funding for any local authority scheme that is not yet in construction.
