The UK fully supports the need to protect all people from enforced disappearance and welcomes the adoption of the UN resolution, which was co-sponsored by Guatemala.Human rights is a key priority for our embassy in Guatemala City. We strongly support the work of the International Commission Against Impunity in Guatemala, which works to assist Guatemala investigate violent criminal organisations believed to be responsible for widespread crime and paralysis of the country's judicial system. The UK has funded a number of projects in this area, including with the Guatemalan Forensic Anthropology Foundation, which brings forensic science to the task of identifying the remains of people who disappeared during the internal armed conflict.
