Monarchy: Catholicism

Question
To ask Her Majesty’s Government, further to the comments by the Minister for Political and Constitutional Reform, Mr Mark Harper, on 1 July (Official Report, Commons, col. 111), what questions are being discussed with other Commonwealth Governments regarding the exclusion of Roman Catholics from the throne; and what position the Government are taking in those discussions.

Discussions with other Commonwealth Governments are still at an early stage. It would be inappropriate to give any further details of those discussions at this time.
