Councillors: Age

- To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government (1) whether he has made a recent estimate of the number and proportion of councillors under the age of 35 years old in local authorities (a) in London and (b) outside London;
- Answer

We have made no such estimates. Data on the age profile of councillors are collected by the Local Government and Improvement Development body (previously known as IDeA) as part of its National Census of Local Authority Councillors in England, the last of which was carried out in 2008.
