Cumbrian Shooting Incident

- To ask Her Majesty’s Government whether Mr Derrick Bird was visited by a firearms officer of the Cumbria Constabulary in 2007 in connection with applications to renew his firearms and shotgun certificates.

The chief constable has commissioned a report on the circumstances surrounding the grant and any subsequent renewal of Mr Bird's certificates by Cumbria Constabulary. This is being conducted by a national expert on firearms licensing appointed by the Association of Chief Police Officers. A report is expected by October.
