- To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport how much his Department spent on newspapers and magazines in each year between 1997-98 and 2005-06.

The information set out in the table shows expenditure incurred by the Department on subscriptions for hard copy and online magazines, newspapers, books and other publications, access to specific research databases, the Stationery Office and other parliamentary information sources as well as legal online and hard copy updating services.Due to the way information has been collated we are unable to disaggregate the cost of newspapers and magazines from the overall expenditure, for the timeframe requested, without incurring a disproportionate cost.
