Animal Welfare Act 2006
- Question
- To ask Her Majesty’s Government whether they will strengthen the requirements of the Animal Welfare Act 2006 in respect of normal owl behaviour patterns and the provision of a suitable environment for owls.
- Answer
-
It is already an offence under the Animal Welfare Act (2006) to fail to provide for the welfare needs of any animal under the control of man or to cause unnecessary suffering to any animal. We have no plans to introduce any further requirements relating specifically to owls.
