Venezuela: Human Rights

Question
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what recent reports he has received on the incidence of anti-Semitism in Venezuela; and if he will make a statement.
Answer

There have been anti-Semitic incidents in the past including an attack on a synagogue in January 2009. Our embassy in Caracas monitors this issue and has reported that there have not been any similar incidents of anti-Semitism since. We understand that President Chavez met members of the Jewish community in September this year.
