Sport: Gambling

Question: To ask Her Majesty’s Government what plans they have for controlling gambling on events during the 2012 Olympic Games.

Answer: Gambling will operate as usual, within the rules that already exist to regulate commercial gambling in Great Britain. However, officials from the Gambling Commission are working with the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the London Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) and the Metropolitan Police to ensure that any sports betting integrity issues which arise during the 2012 Olympic Games within the licensed market in Great Britain are dealt with effectively .
