Prisoners: Shrewsbury Picket Dispute
- Question
- To ask the Secretary of State for Justice if he will order a public inquiry into the events leading up to and the imprisonment of participants of the 1972 Shrewsbury Picket dispute.
- Answer
-
The Secretary of State will not order a public inquiry into the events surrounding the 1972 Shrewsbury Picket dispute. He considers that this would be a disproportionate response as an application to the Criminal Cases Review Commission remains an option for the majority of those involved.
