Councillors: Business Interests
- Question
- To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government what plans he has for a national register of councillors' interests.
- Answer
-
Our proposals for abolishing the Standards Board regime involve that in future, publicly available registers of members' interests are maintained locally by councils, reflecting that the accountability of councils and their members is to their local electorate. We are keen for this information to be published online in an open and standardised format.
