Commonwealth Local Government Forum

Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what plans he has to strengthen links with local and national governments overseas as part of the biennial conference of the Commonwealth Local Government Forum.

Answer: The Government have undertaken to strengthen the United Kingdom's relationship with the Commonwealth and to ensure that the United Kingdom is at the centre of plans to reinvigorate this unique organisation. To achieve this we are working closely with the Commonwealth network and member states. We welcome the opportunity offered by the biennial conference to strengthen relations with key Commonwealth partners, including local governments.
