Multiple Occupation: Crime

Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government pursuant to the answer of 5 July 2010, Official Report, column 89W, on multiple occupation: licensing, if he will assess the cost of collecting information from local authorities on how many landlords have been prosecuted under legislative provisions governing the operation of houses in multiple occupation.

Answer: As stated in my answer of 5 July 2010, Official Report, column 89W, information about how many landlords have been prosecuted under the legislative provisions governing the operation of houses in multiple occupation is not held centrally. The Department has no plans to begin collecting this information or to assess the cost of collection.The Government remain committed to the goal of reducing the burdens of data reporting requirements on local government.
