Banks: Lending
- Question
- To ask Her Majesty’s Government, further to the Written Answer by Lord Sassoon on 18 January (WA 19), how data on bank lending from the sources specified indicate the amount major United Kingdom banks will lend in 2011 in the absence of direction by, or agreement with, the Government.

As the Chancellor stated on 11 January, we are working with the banks to ensure that they make a greater contribution to lending. We will provide details to Parliament when the negotiations have been finalised.
