Public Health: Regulation

- To ask the Secretary of State for Health when he plans to publish his proposals for regulations under the provisions of the Health and Social Care Bill in respect of the public health functions of the Secretary of State which he will require local authorities to exercise.

The timing of regulations arising from the Health and Social Care Bill will depend on the passage of the Bill and the timing of Royal Assent, as well as on the nature of the regulations in question. Under current plans, regulations concerning the exercise of public health functions by local authorities would not take effect before April 2013.
