Squirrels
- Question
- To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs what estimate she has made of the size of the red squirrel population for each of the last five years.
- Answer
-
There is no reliable estimate of the red squirrel population in the UK. It is difficult to obtain an accurate figure as the number of squirrels per hectare varies considerably, due to environmental factors such as food supply, weather conditions and breeding success.
