Squirrels

- To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs whether her Department is considering placing obligations on future owners, leaseholders or managers of woodland owned by the Forestry Commission to control the size of the grey squirrel population as part of its proposals for the sale of woodland.

The consultation on the future of the public forest estate has been halted and all forestry clauses in the Public Bodies Bill will be removed. An independent panel of experts will now examine forestry policy in England and report back to Ministers in the autumn.
