Regional Growth Fund
- Question
- To ask Her Majesty’s Government what bids for the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership had to be discarded because of the timing of the change in the rules for the first round of bidding for the regional growth fund.
- Answer
-
There was no change to the rules for the first round of bidding for the regional growth fund. There were some minor improvements to the application form, which were introduced on 17 December 2010 to make it easier for applicants to describe how their projects align with the objectives of the fund. Just under 3.5 per cent of applications received were on the old form. All these bidders were given the opportunity to resubmit using the new form. Where these bidders have chosen not to resubmit their bid on the new form, their original application is nonetheless being appraised. None of the applications received on the old form came from Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership. Therefore, to the best of my knowledge, no bids from the LEP had to be discarded because of changes to the form.
