European Parliament

Question
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs pursuant to the answer of 8 February 2011, Official Report, column 219W, on the European Parliament: location, with which members of the (a) European Parliament, (b) European Commission and (c) Council of Ministers he has discussed the location of the European Parliament; and what was discussed at each meeting.
Answer

The Government are committed to reducing inefficient and wasteful spending by the EU and in the coalition agreement have committed to pressing for the European Parliament to have only one seat, in Brussels. I have met with many people with an interest in this issue including ministerial counterparts in other EU member states, European Commissioners and Members of the European Parliament.
