Trading: Derivatives
- Question
- To ask Her Majesty’s Government what assessment they have made of the competition implications for European exchange-traded financial derivatives of the proposed merger of Deutsche Boerse and NYSE Euronext; and whether they intend to make proposals to ensure all trading houses have equal access to Eurex derivatives exchanges.
- Answer
-
The Government are mindful of the potential implications for competition of the proposed merger, which triggers the thresholds under the EU merger regulation. The Government support fair and open access between trading platforms and central counterparties. Proposals to make progress on this are included in the forthcoming EU regulation on derivatives transactions, central counterparties and trade repositories.
