- To ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change what assessment he has made of the recommendations of the Fourth Report of the Committee on Climate Change; and if he will make a statement.

As the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, my right hon. Friend the Member for Eastleigh (Chris Huhne), announced on 17 May 2011, Official Report, columns 176-77, and in line with the recommendations of the Committee on Climate Change, the Government have proposed setting a legally binding target for greenhouse gas emissions for the fourth Carbon Budget period of 2023 to 2027 of 1950 MtCO2e—a 50% reduction on 1990 levels. In agreeing with the Committee's recommendations the Government are delivering on their promise to be the greenest Government ever.
