Adaptation Fund

Question: To ask the Secretary of State for International Development what funds his Department plans to provide to the UN Climate Adaptation Fund in each of the next four financial years.

Answer: The UK Government welcomed the establishment of the Adaptation Fund which is designed to support developing countries to make the investments needed to protect poor people from the impacts of climate change. We want the fund to be a success and the UK is an active member of its board. No decision has yet been taken on a possible UK contribution in the next four years. In considering whether to do so we will rigorously assess the ability of the fund to deliver results, impact and value for money for the poor people it is set up to serve.
