Ports: EU Action

- To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what steps his Department is taking to implement the European State Port Control Directive.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency has implemented a risk based inspection scheme for foreign registered vessels calling at UK ports from 1 January 2011 when the directive took effect.Regulations and supporting documents to transpose provisions of the directive that place duties on the shipping sector have been prepared for consultation with the industry which is expected to begin soon.
