Baton Rounds: Death

- To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many people have been (a) killed and (b) injured by the use of baton rounds since 1981.

[holding answer 14 November 2011]: The Home Office does not hold this data. Data on number of people killed as a result of the use of police baton rounds since 2004 are held by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC). This shows that no individuals have been killed as a result of the police use of baton rounds since 2004. The IPCC does not hold data prior to this period and does not hold comprehensive data about injuries.
