Witnesses: Intimidation

- To ask the Secretary of State for Justice what estimate he has made of the number of cases where a witness has been intimidated by prisoners on remand in each of the last five years.

This information is not collected centrally but it is clear that where intimidation occurs the impact can be serious. For that reason arrangements were put in place in September which enable the police, CPS, courts and prisons to work together to protect victims and witnesses from unwelcome contact where such a risk is identified.
