Libya

Question: To ask Her Majesty’s Government when they anticipate that British military operations in Libya will end.

Answer: The UK's support to NATO's Operation Unified Protector in Libya has ended. In terms of bilateral military support to Libya, we have a small defence advisory team in Tripoli and a separate small team of military counterproliferation experts working with the Libyan authorities and United States to locate, disable, and secure man-portable surface to air missiles. We stand ready to respond to any formal request for defence and security assistance from the Libyan Transitional Government, and will ensure that any assistance is co-ordinated with key partners.
