National Insurance
- Question
- To ask Her Majesty’s Government whether they will assess the amount of revenue lost because non-European Union workers are allowed a 52-week exclusion from national insurance contributions; and whether this concession includes employer contributions, and, if so, at what estimated cost.
- Answer
-
I refer the noble Lord to the answers I gave on 13 July 2011 (col. WA 189), 2 December 2010 (col. WA 484) and 16 November 2010 (col. WA 196), which explained why non-EEA workers are allowed a 52-week exemption from national insurance contributions (which includes employer contributions). Information on the amount of NICs foregone due to this exemption is not available.
