Empty Property: Shops
- Question
- To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government what assessment he has made of the (a) Community Right to Buy and (b) Community Right to Try proposals for empty shops on high streets.

No formal assessment has been made of the Assets of Community Value provisions (Right to Bid) contained in the Localism Act 2011 as the provisions and the relevant secondary legislation have yet to be commenced. In England, the provisions will be commenced later this year. Commencement of the legislation in Wales is a devolved matter.The Government will respond to the Portas Review in the spring.
