Extradition: Egypt
- Question
- To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) how many people were extradited from the UK to Egypt in (a) each year between 1982 and 2010 and (b) 2011 to date; in respect of which offences they were extradited; and if she will place details of these cases in the Library;
- Answer
-
From 1982 to date, no one has been extradited from the UK to Egypt. It is a matter of long standing policy and practice that the UK will neither confirm nor deny the existence of an extradition request made or received by this country before an arrest is made pursuant to the request.
