Passports

Question: To ask Her Majesty’s Government whether first-time applications by British nationals for British passports in Yemen can be applied for at the regional passport processing centre in Paris.

Answer: The British embassy in Yemen is currently closed to the public owing to the security situation and passport services have been suspended since May 2011. First-time applicants for a full validity British passport must apply in person to the British embassy in Amman, Jordan. First time applications must be submitted, in person, to Amman, with the correct payment and documents. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office website: http://ukinfrance.fco.gov.uk/en/help-for-british-nationals/passports/how-to-apply/yemen advises that applying direct to Paris will cause unnecessary delays and will require the applicant to make an additional payment to return the application by courier to Amman.
