Northern Ireland: Security
- Question
- To ask Her Majesty’s Government, further to the Written Answer by Lord Shutt of Greetland on 17 January (WA 124), what form the request by the Northern Ireland Courts and Tribunals Service to close lower Chichester Street in Belfast took; to whom it was addressed and when; and whether closure of the roads at the side and back of the court building was considered as part of the request or separately by the Secretary of State.
- Answer
-
The Northern Ireland Courts and Tribunals Service made arrangements to assess the security of the judicial estate in that part of Belfast. This assessment led them to make this request in April 2010 for closure to the then Minister of State in the Northern Ireland Office. The closure of other roads did not form part of the request by the Northern Ireland Courts and Tribunals Service.
