World Health Organisation: Awards

- To ask Her Majesty’s Government what assessment they have made of the World Health Organisation Innovations in Health Worker Migration Award announced on 1 February 2012; and whether they will be nominating the United Kingdom or any other candidate for an award.

The Government are committed to the ideals expressed in the World Health Organisation (WHO) Code of Practice on the International Recruitment of Health Workers and welcome initiatives such as the WHO award scheme to ensure that migration of health workers does not compromise healthcare in developing countries. The Government have yet to decide whether to make a nomination.
