To ask the Secretary of State for Justice how many cases were heard in the Social Entitlement Chamber of the First-tier Tribunal in each of the last five years.
Answer

The Social Entitlement Chamber of the First-tier Tribunal is made up of three jurisdictions: Asylum Support, Criminal Injuries Compensation and Social Security and Child Support.The following table shows the total number of cases disposed of in each of these three jurisdictions from 2007-08 to April to October 2011. This includes cases disposed of at hearing, as well as cases that were withdrawn, superseded or struck out. This information is not available for 2006-07 as it was not formally recorded for any of the jurisdictions and has therefore not previously been published.
