Broadband: Shropshire

Question
To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport what steps he is taking to ensure greater broadband access across rural Shropshire.
Answer

The Government have committed £530 million during the current spending review period to deliver the best superfast broadband network in Europe and has allocated £8.21 million to Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin to help improve superfast broadband coverage to 90% of premises and standard 2Mpbps for virtually everyone by 2015.Broadband Delivery UK is working with the county council on the development of their local broadband plan and procurement to achieve the Government's broadband objectives in Shropshire.
