- To ask the Secretary of State for Education how much his Department spent on taxis for (a) Ministers and (b) civil servants between August 2011 and January 2012.

The Department has a contract with Addison Lee (a London-based private hire company). The total expenditure on private hire vehicles via this contract, between August 2011 and January 2012 for (a) Ministers is £2,370 and (b) civil servants is £34,569.Information about spending on black cabs and other taxis is not held centrally and could be provided only at disproportionate cost.
